The Institute of Museum and Library Services, otherwise termed as IMLS, is an independent agency of the United States Federal administration that was established during the fiscal year 1996. The programs and objectives of the IMLS are made to aid them realize their overall agency mission which is to "constitute strong libraries and museums that connect human beings with data and thoughts." Aside from that, the IMLS also persistently operates towards administering grant programs which will boost the value of museums and libraries as crucial resources for a earth of learners.
