Why Men Are More Action Gamblers Than Women
Casino Gambling is a huge industry today in most countries. The Pathological gambler or a compulsive gambler has been described as a mental disorder by some Psychiatric Associations. The Compulsive gambler can be the action type or the escape type of gambler. It has been widely noted that Action Gamblers are mostly men. This could be attributed to the circumstance that in the past, women were not socially allowed to go to casinos for gambling and due to such restrictions; the percentage of women having such an addiction was low. Slowly, the number of women developing such an addiction is increasing. About 95% of the women gamblers belong to the escape gambling category of compulsive gambling, whereas most of the men belong to the Action gambling category. Both social and biological factors are responsible for this difference. The biologi cal aspect has to do with the differences in the dopamine levels in the brain.
