There are many automotive awards encircling the earth up for the taking every year, however only a select hardly any vehicles have what it takes to clinch the sought after Automobile of the Year title. The fresh Hyundai Elantra is a proud member of this elite collection, having claimed this accolade not just on community South African soil, however also in the international arena. At the beginning of this year the Elantra was named 2012 North American Automobile of the Year at the Detroit Auto Exhibit after facing strong competition from the VW Passat and Ford Focus.
