Value investors spend most of their age swimming against the investment market 'tide'. The value investor buys outside-of-favor stocks and parts corporation with them just as the rest of the earth starts to recognise the hideous duckling's merits. And weird as it may seem, buying a stock when the value is on the path down (rather than going the other path) amounts to a safety-first investing strategy as far as the value investor is concerned...
