Artificial Intelligence and the Turing Test
A person in one room uses a keyboard to interrogate an entity in another room and judges from its answers whether that entity is a human being or a machine. If the machine fools the interrogator into thinking that it is human, it is said to have passed the Turing Check. However this is no proof that the machine consciously thinks. The Check is simply a definition of Artificial Intelligence.
