A Little Tip on the Drying Time of Oil Paints


When ever anyone talks about the drying age for oil paints they always place it into the same context as we talk about the drying age of watercolours or acrylic paints, which is incorrect really as the action is completely different. With watercolour and acrylics the paint dries through evaporation, which basically method the aqua in the paint is drawn outside by spontaneously turning from a liquid into a gas, this action allows the paint to harden. The hotter it is, the quicker this action happens, which is why it's a terrible thought to paint outdoors with acrylic...
