Michelangelo Buronarroti was born in Italy on the 6 March 1475; he is considered nowadays as one of the most well-known sculptors and painters of the Renaissance period. His mother, Francesca died shortly after birth and was a wet nurse who raised him; she was the daughter and wife of men who worked with the chisel, and although not prominent sculptors; Michelangelo would later affirm that, along with the milk of the wet nurse, he also assimilated the like for the chisels and hammers.
