You Did That On Purpose!
Cats can be many things... loving one minute, snobbish the following... cuddling in our laps like small angels, then suddenly biting the palm that has been stroking them. However, contrary to what we may reckon, our cats are not capable of the sophisticated choice-making we give them credit for. "Fluffy" does not purposely pee on the floor in order to get back at us for ignoring her... she may be mad and upset about something and thus pees outside of her litter box to exhibit us her displeasure. However "Fluffy" is a cat... she is not capable of the convoluted thought action that goes into getting back at someone. That's a human characteristic...
